The Art Institute of Chicago

Just around the Art Institute of Chicago is the street named after Vivekananda.

Designed by Lorado Taft between 1907 and 1913.The Fountain is one of Taft's best known works. What I liked the most is the character Cockspur Hawthorn trees brought to the surroundings of the sculpture. It was just the end of the falls and onset of winter, I guess the fountain is switched off during the winter season.

The Art Institute of Chicago, founded in 1879 and located in Chicago's Grant Park, is one of the oldest and largest art museums in the United States.

The Chicago Art Institute was the venue where Swami Vivekananda addressed the Parliament of the World's Religions in 1893.

Just around the institute is the street named after Vivekananda.

BTW its the Mysore king Chamarajendra Wadiyar X sponsored this famous journey of Swami Vivekananda to Chicago in 1893.

The two Bronze casted lions were unveiled in 10th May 1894, the same year the institute was inaugurated.
Edward Kemeys, a self-taught artist and one of America's great sculptor of animals created these two.
The one at the north is “on the prowl” ( seen in the background). The south one is “in an attitude of defiance”. I liked the south one.
