Thangassery is a seaside village in Kollam ( Quilon ).
The place is notable for its historic legacy, especially the settlements made by the Portuguese and the Dutch during the 18th century. Thangassery has a significant Anglo-Indian population, a community that had its roots in the colonial past of India.
The remains of a Portuguese fort and the churches are attractions of Thangasseri together with its seaside and the lighthouse.
Thangasseri is about 5 kilometers from Kollam town. Buses ply frequently to Kollam Town, which has a major railway station.
